Introduction This expedition holds a lot of appeal for those who crave to climb the height of 8000 meters and beyond. It is a double take at one go. The opportunity provided by the expedition to scale both the peaks is an altogether exceptional experience. This expedition is only for people who have extensive experience and expertise of scaling the peaks of such altitude earlier. Mt. Everest & Mt. Lhotse are the highest and the fourth highest peaks in the world respectively, and are part of the same range of mountain. Since the route is accessible via the Khumbu glacier, there is a fantastic possibility of an expedition to both the peaks. Mt Everest - Lhotse combined expedition presents the opportunity of a life time. The unpredictable weather conditions combined with high altitude, severe weather conditions and avalanches present multiple and varied challenges. Very few people dare to do this expedition owing to the complexity of the trail. It is absolutely essential for the climbers to have the prior experience of scaling a 7000-meter peak or higher. Besides one needs to have good fitness of both the upper and lower body to tackle the difficulty of the expedition. No one dared to challenge their might until the last century when humans set foot on the top of these peak. From then on, the peaks have drawn number of expeditions to their exalted heights. The experience and expertise gained by humans over the decades have been instrumental in many climbers reaching the Everest summit. The footfall on the Everest-Lhotse expedition has increased over the recent years. The Everest-Lhotse expedition attracts people from all over the world. Expedition packages have been custom designed as per the requirements of mountaineers from around the world. Nestled in Khumbu region of Nepal, the Mt Everest-Lhotse expedition is one of the three most popular expeditions in the entire region. It is a difficult to climb where ascents to the camp pass through complex terrain. The footfall is prominent on the Nepali side due to the ease of arranging and organizing resources and climber-friendly policies of the government.

Detailed Itinerary


Day 1

Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu (1400m)
The trip will start with the arrival of the participants in the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu. Here you will check into your hotel for the day. You will be given a briefing about the procedures and practices to make you acquainted with the trip ahead.

Day 2

Day 2: Stay in Kathmandu
All your formalities for the trip will be completed during the course of your stay at Kathmandu. After the formalities you can enjoy your time and stay in the city by exploring the local markets or going out for sightseeing.

Day 3

Day 3: Fly to Lukla, Trek to Phakding (2460m)
From Kathmandu the participants will fly to Lukla. It is a half an hour flight which will take you through the scenic beauty of the Himalayas. From Lukla you will trek to Phakding. The permit formality will be completed at Lukla itself for the journey ahead.

Day 4

Day 4: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m)
After the stay at Phakding, the participants will move to Namche Bazaar, which is the commercial hub of the region. The path to Namche bazaar will involve trekking through dense forest area. We will gain significant level of elevation as we move ahead. We will stay at Namche Bazaar for the night.

Day 5

Day 5: Rest and Acclimatization at Namche Bazaar
This day will mark the stay at Namche Bazaar itself for better acclimatization with the surroundings and climate. The participants can also visit the Sherpa museum and Everest photo gallery at Namche Bazaar.

Day 6

Day 6: Trek to Dibuche (3820m)
After the rest and acclimatization at Namche bazaar, the group will move ahead to Dibuche. You will pass through dense vegetation on the way. Besides you will witness sights of the scenic mountains and forests all along.

Day 7

Day 7: Trek to Dingboche (4410m)
From Dibuche to Dingboche, the entire route takes over 5-6 hours to cover. You will climb uphill to reach the village of lower Pangboche. You will cross the valley to reach Dingboche. Here you will have an acclimatization exercise to get better acquainted with the terrain and climate.

Day 8

Day 8: Trek to Lobuche (4900m)
You will trek the course with a climb to the ridge behind Pheriche. It is a walk of 6-7hrs to reach Lobuche which is the small habitat of the sherpas. It is the final village on the trail ahead of the expedition.

Day 9

Day 9: Trek to Everest Base Camp (5380m)
From Lobuche onwards the group will cross the Khumbu glacier to reach the Everest base camp. On the way, the group will enjoy the spectacular view of the majestic mountains of the region.

Day 10

Day 10-13: Acclimatization at Everest Base Camp
During the stay at the base camp, the group gets acclimatized with the high altitude so that it can adapt to even higher camps. The group also organizes and participates in the prayer ceremony before the summit as Mt. Everest or Mt. Chomolungma is considered the ?Mother Goddess of the World? as per the local Tibetan Language. The prayer is done to remain safe and as permission to climb on the holy mountain. Besides, the group also conduct some training that includes: ladder practice, walking on fixed lines, diagonal ascent and descent, traversing, duck walk, classical or flat-footing, handling oxygen cylinders, using an Ice axe, and crampons, using walkie talkie and following instructions while climbing and many more activities.

Day 11

Day 14-23: Climbing Period (Everest Summit - Lhotse Summit)
This entire time period is marked by the scaling of two of the highest peaks in the world. A dream of every mountaineer to scale these enormous and magnificent mountains to have the experience of the life time to cherish upon. From base camp the group will climb to Camp 1 at 5943m. Here the group will stay overnight and enjoy their meal. The next day, climb will be to Camp 2 at a height of 6400m. Here after a short stay the group will again return to Camp 1. From there the group will return to base camp and rest. After the rest at base camp again the group will climb up to the Camp 2 and take rest. From Camp 2 to Camp 3 will be another climb and then the return to Camp 2. From there the group will further descend to base camp and finally to Namche Bazaar. At Namche bazaar the preparations for the final ascent will be made. The group will again climb to Base Camp, Camp 1, Camp 2 and Camp 3 at 7162m. From there the group will proceed to camp4 at 8000m. Camp 4 is the divergence point for the climbers of Everest and those of the Lhotse expeditions. After the stay at Camp 4 the group will scale the Everest summit, climbing to the top of the world?s highest mountain at 8848m. Later the group will descend to Camp 4. The next ascent for the group will be to Lhotse summit at a height of 8513m. From there the group will descend to Camp 2 for overnight stay. From Camp 2 the group will make its way down to the base camp

Day 12

Day 24: Everest Base Camp
The group will descend down to the base camp and clean up the camp.

Day 13

Day 55: Trek to Pheriche
From the base camp the group will trek down to Pheriche while enjoying the sights along the way.

Day 14

Day 56: Trek to Namche
From Pheriche the group will scale down to Namche bazaar again.

Day 15

Day 57: Trek to Lukla
From Namche Bazaar the group will follow the same trek again moving through the dense forests, suspension bridges and mountains to reach Lukla.

Day 16

Day 58: Fly back to Kathmandu
From Lukla the group will take the flight back to Kathmandu.

Day 17

Day 59: Free day in Kathmandu
Before the departure from Kathmandu riding high over your expedition to the highest mountains in the world, you can unwind by exploring the city of Kathmandu.

Day 18

Day 60: Final departure from Kathmandu
Finally, you will bid farewell to the city of Kathmandu with the memories of a life time, having scaled two of the highest peaks in the world.

This makes it mandatory for you to have high-altitude experience of preferably multiple treks marked at level 3 on the WIMRS.
