Introduction The Kedar Dome holds a revered place in the Hindu mythology. Most famous recognition for it comes as the heavenly abode of LORD SHIVA. This significance makes it the place of highest spirituality and yearning. It is believed that here the spirit gets freed from the cycle of birth and salvation is achieved. The mythological and spiritual connect gives it prominent position in the texts of Hindu mythology. The Kedar dome is situated at the distance of about 2 kms from the Kedarnath temple, a famous pilgrimage. The Kedar dome presents a mesmerizing view of the Kedarnath temple from a viewpoint. The Kedar dome drives its significance for being located in the sacred hills of Himalayas. It is located in the Gangotri basin in the northwestern part of the state of Uttarakhand. It is the third highest peak in the entire region soaring to the height of 6832 meters from the ground. The ascent to the mount takes a period of 20 days. It is counted as one of the easiest treks by the Mountaineering department of India. On the way you will be catching up with the breathtaking beauty of other famous peaks like Mt. Meru, Mt. Shivling and the Bhagirathi peaks. The approach to the Kedar dome is taken from the southern side of the northwestern region. This is deemed far easier to climb rather than the eastern side owing to the difficult terrain. The basic knowledge of trekking and mountaineering for anybody will be enough because of the ease of ascent and the trek. The catch up to this trek is initiated by our trained experts who provide the entire understanding about the entire terrain of Kedar Dome. A basic level of training is provided to help you to acclimatize with the situation during the course of expedition. Our representative will take you through the entire information of the expedition to get you acquainted with the complete itinerary of the tour. Best Time The best time to scale the summit is during the month of May-June and September- October. During this time the summit provides the best route which could be on the easier side to scale during the other months of the year. The summit presents a moderate level of difficulty due to the boulders and steep slopes. Thus it is necessary to acclimatize properly to with stand the unpredictable conditions.

Detailed Itinerary


Day 1

Day 1: Briefing at IMF & Departure to Dehradun (Distance - 280 kms, Time - 7 hrs.)

?The journey starts from Delhi, where on arrival you will check into the hotel. After the rest day, you will be required to reach the office of Indian Mountaineering federation, New Delhi where all your formalities will be done. It will be followed by the briefing from IMF Director. Later in the day we will drive you to Dehradun.

Day 2

Day 2: Dehradun to Gangotri (Distance - 240 kms, Time - 8 hrs.)

?The road from Dehradun to Gangotri is resplendent with scenic natural beauty of the Himalayas. On the way you will get the sight of the famous Himalayan range. The check in will be at the local hotel where you will have your lodging. (Note: For those of you who have taken transportation from the company should report to ISBT, Dehradun at 7:30 am. The others who have not availed the transportation from the company should reach Gangotri by 5 pm)

Day 3

Day 3: Stay at Gangotri- acclimatization ? ?

?The stay at Gangotri will help you to adapt to the new environment. This adaptation will help you to acclimatize with the situation first hand. Here further to journey all the required and mandatory formalities will be completed. A stroll around the town will benefit in the future journey ahead.

Day 4

Day 4: Gangotri to Bhojbasa (Distance - 14kms, Time - 5-6 hrs.)

?After the breakfast, you will start your journey ahead on foot to the next stop Bhojbasa via Chirbasa. At Chirbasa there will be a short stop over for rest and food. This walk will further help you to adapt with the trek ahead. This entire route is alongside the Bhagirathi River. By the early evening hours, you will reach the campsite at Bhojbasa. Here you will settle in your camps for the day.

Day 5

Day 5: Bhojbasa to Tapovan via Gaumukh (Distance - 14 kms, Time - 5hrs)

?From Bhojbasa, you will proceed to the next stop over at Gaumukh, which is located at the distance of 5 km from Bhojbasa. The route will be a challenge to traverse due to boulders and running cracks on the glacial road. At Gaumukh there will be another stopover for lunch for one hour. From here on you proceed to your campsite at Tapovan. The trek to Tapovan will be another challenge due to higher altitude.

Day 6

Day 6: Tapovan to Kirti Glacier (Distance - 9 kms, Time - 5hrs)

?From Tapovan to Kirti glacier is a high-altitude trek which is filled with rough terrains and moraines. You may encounter some sort of morning sickness so be light on the breakfast and take plenty of Kirti glacier is also known as Kirti Bamak. On reaching the site you will set up your camp and retire for the day.

Day 7

Day 7-20: Base Camp Mt. Kedar Dome (Climbing Period)

?Now this phase of the journey will be the real test of your endurance. It will involve going over some boulder ridden path and narrow ridges. Here you will be using ice axes, crampons and snow shoes on the daily basis. This will give you the real-life experience of what the mountaineering expedition is all about. You will be set up in many camp sites along the way to rejuvenate your spirits. The entire expedition will be monitored by our experts. Do ensure to full comply with the instructions of the expedition leader for your own safety.

Day 8

Day 21: Kirti Glacier to Bhojbasa (Distance - 20 kms, Time - 7 hrs.)

?After the expedition conquest, you will again be following the trail back to Bhojbasa via Gaumukh. This climb down will again be an experience. You will follow the same course of the route. On the way you will be treated to the lunch breaks. At Bhojbasa you will be staying at the camps to overcome the tiredness and let the feeling of summit sunk into you.

Day 9

Day 22: Bhojbasa to Gangotri ?

?The last stretch of the trek involves again winding down the 14 km stretch via Gangotri. The descend is an easy path down which is covered easily in 4-5 hours. After a short stay at Gangotri for the lunch, it will be the time to take the ride back to Uttarkashi. Here you will check into your hotels for the stay night over.

Day 10

Day 23: Uttarkashi to Dehradun (Distance- 240 kms, Time - 8 hrs.)

?Next morning, you will be driving your way back to the Dehradun, where you could enjoy the local vibrant sights and soak in to the beauty of nature. For those of you who want to shop, there is a market which caters to all the requirements of the tourists.

Day 11

Day 24: Debriefing at Indian Mountaineering federation, New Delhi (Distance - 280 kms, Time - 7 hrs.)

?The return journey to New Delhi from Dehradun will start early to avoid any hassles of the traffic. For the expedition, a debriefing will be conducted at IMF, New Delhi.
