Introduction Pin Parvati trek is a challenging trek, even for experienced trekkers. This trek involves a wholesome involvement of the human body. Such especially mentally, and physically. But, the results of all the single efforts and steps are worth it. Pin Parvati trek is a mixture of adventure, dramatic landscapes, and a sense of achievement. Pin Parvati pass is at an elevation of 5298 M. Get yourself prepared to experience the Odds to receive the best. This trek is the gateway to the trans-Himalayan region of the Himalayas. It is a cold desert. From the lush green meadows of Parvati valley to the Buddhist hamlets of Spiti valley. Pin Parvati valley indeed traverses through. The trail of pin Parvati starts at Bhuntar at Kullu at 2000 M and it ascends till 5298 M. Pin Parvati trail does have an exquisite landscape with some nerve-wracking difficulties to overcome. Best Time to Trek: Pin Parvati pass trek is a high-altitude trek. Which makes it quite a seasoned trek. Pin Parvati pass is only open for a few months. The best time to go for the pin Parvati trek is around 20th June to 20th July. And mid-September to mid-October. Even though there are high chances of snowfall near Kaza side. Difficulty Level: Pin Parvati trek is a difficult and challenging trek. Also, you should know that rucksack offloading is not allowed on this trek. This means you need to carry all your personal belongings, which also includes sleeping bags. This trail involves a lot of rough terrains, high-elevation moraine stretches and crossing the icy cold river. Also, crevasse-filled glaciers at the pass. It?s a strenuous 82km trek. So, it is highly recommended to have prior experience of high-altitude treks. Moreover, the body should be well-trained physically to endure sudden weather changes.

Day 1: Bhuntar to Barsheni (2580 M).
Day 2: Kalga to Kheerganga (2960 M)
Day 3: Kheerganga to Tunda Bhuj (3200 M)
Day 4: Tunda Bhuj to Thakur Kuan (3620 M)
Day 5: Thakur Kuan to Odi Thatch (3815 M)
Day 6: Odi Thatch to Mantalai (4096 M)
Day 7: Mantalai to Base camp I (4800 M)

Detailed Itinerary


Day 1

Day 1: Bhuntar to Barsheni (2580 M).
Trail: 50 km (2.5-hour drive) Campsite: Barsheni The highlight of the day: Barsheni village. Trek: Today is day 1 and it's an easy relaxed day. You get a lot of time to get acquainted with other trekkers. Once you reach Bhuntar (Main Bus Stand) which is our meeting point, we will drive to Barsheni which is 50 km. And it takes 2.5 hours approximately. The views of Parvati valley are just so green and incredible. From here, we will go for a less 20 mins trek to Kalga. Overnight stay at the accommodation.

Day 2

Day 2: Kalga to Kheerganga (2960 M)
Trail: 8 km (6-hour) Campsite: Kheerganga. The highlight of the day: Kheerganga village, Rudranag falls, temple, and Hot spring. Trek: Today is Day 2 and we will begin early. The trail begins with a sharp descent. It is a moderate climb to Nakthan. It?s a very small settlement, you could have a tea break here. As the trek continues you will cross the apple orchids along with roaring Parvati River. After that, you will come across Rudranag falls and the temple. After a while, following the well-marked trail, we will reach kheer Ganga. You can ease yourself up and take a refreshing shower in the hot spring. Overnight stays at camp.

Day 3

Day 3: Kheerganga to Tunda Bhuj (3200 M)
Trail: 11.37 km (4-5 hours trek) Campsite: Tunda Bhuj The highlight of the day: massive waterfalls right before the campsite. Trek: Today is the 3rd day of the Pin Parvati trek journey. We will start early morning from our campsite meadows. In the beginning, the trail is rocky, but gradually it becomes flat. There are only a few patches of ascent. You will cross the deep dense forest. Once you cross the slightly mucky terrain you will come across the massive waterfall. Right ahead of it is our campsite. Overnight stay at the campsite.

Day 4

Day 4: Tunda Bhuj to Thakur Kuan (3620 M)
Trail: 5 km (3?4-hour trek) Campsite: Thakur Kuan The highlight of the day: Meadows and waterfalls on the trail. Trek: Today is Day 4. We will start right after breakfast. You will cross beautiful meadows and waterfalls today. Today we will have a 400 M ascent. At the beginning of the trail, there are a few tricky patches for at least an hour. You need to be careful as its landslides prone area. After we cross that, the terrain starts to be rocky as we follow the tree line. Then we will reach our campsite which is right next to river Parvati and it's a huge meadow. Overnight stay at the campsite.

Day 5

Day 5: Thakur Kuan to Odi Thatch (3815 M)
Trail: 9.6 km (5 hours trek) Campsite: Odi thatch The highlight of the day: Crossing the 2 bridges and a 20 ft boulder. Trek: Today is day 5, and it is going to be a thrill today. As soon as we start the trek there will be a mild ascent as you reach the first bridge. You will need to cross the massive boulder and it's a real thrill. You can experience the adrenaline rush. That's how you will reach Pandu pull 1. Then we will reach another bridge by crossing another 20 ft boulder namely Pandu pulls 2. Afterward, we will have to walk on narrow trails to our campsite Odi Thatch. The campsite is in vast pasture land. Overnight stay at the campsite.

Day 6

Day 6: Odi Thatch to Mantalai (4096 M)
Trail: 10 km (6 hours trek) Campsite: Mantalai The highlight of the day: Glacial Lake, Mantalai Trek: Today is Day 6 of our trek. Today there are not much harsh ascents or descents except the last 300 M. Today is more of a pleasant walk along with Parvati River. Almost halfway to our destination will reach mini-Mantalai where there are numerous tiny streams merging together. From mini Mantalai there will be a steep ascent of 300 M and you will reach the campsite. Witness the beauty of the glacial lake at Mantalai, it's majestic. Overnight stay at camp.

Day 7

Day 7: Mantalai to Base camp I (4800 M)
Trail: 4.5 km (5-6 hours trek) Campsite: Base camp I The highlight of the day: Camping on the edge of Parvati glacier. Trek: Today is Day 7, and it is going to be a little strenuous day today. We will begin before sunrise as we will need to cross the large section of the loose scree and muddy parts. Once we cross that, there will be a long hard ascent for the day. Gradually we reach the moraine section. Even though the moraine section is just a kilometer but takes the longest to traverse. After that, you will reach the campsite. Overnight stay at the campsite.

Day 8

Day 8: Base camp I to Base camp II via Pin Parvati pass (5289 M)
Trail: 6.4 km (7-8 hours trek) Campsite: Base camp II The highlight of the day: Pin Parvati Pass Trek: Today is Day 8 and it is the summit day. Today we will enter spirit valley. We will be starting before the breaking of dawn. Because today we will be walking a lot on the ice. Once the sun comes out the ice starts to melt which makes the trail challenging. Once we cross the glacier the climb for the pass gets steep for around 300-400 M and then Once we summit. It does feel like an achievement because it will be hard. From the summit, we start to descend. And after a kilometer, we reach our campsite. Overnight stay at camp. Pat yourself for lifetime achievement.

Day 9

Day 9: Base camp II to Wichkurung Thatch (3500 M)
Trail: 11.83 km (6 hours trek) Campsite: Wichkurung thatch. The highlight of the day: Wichkurung thatch campsite. Trek: Today is day 9, and we will make an early start. As soon as the trail starts there is a sharp descent for 3 km. After that another 1.5 km, you will reach the river crossing section. After the stream crossing, the descent continues. After that, the walk is fairly straight. Overnight stay at the campsite.

Day 10

Day 10: Wichkurung Thatch to Mudh (3970 M) to Kaza (3800 M)
Trail: 15km (5 hours trek) and drive to Kaza) Campsite: Kaza. The highlight of the day: Explore Pin Valley. Trek: Today will be day 10, we will begin early in the morning. Today?s trail will be filled with a stream crossing, indigenous flora, and fauna. And then you reach the desolate Mudh village in Pin valley of Spiti valley. From Mudh village there will be a couple of hours' drive to Kaza. Overnight stay at Kaza.

Day 11

Day 11: Departure from Kaza (3800 M)
Trail: Explore Kaza. Campsite: Kaza. The highlight of the day: Explore Kaza and nearby cafes. Well, today is the most relaxing day where you can get yourself indulged in the Culture of Kaza. treat your tastebuds to amazing authentic Tibetan food. Explore the livelihood of trans Himalayas. After that from Kaza, you can hire a cab or take a local Himachal transport bus.

Day 12

Day 12: Buffer Day
Well, Day 12 is buffer day. This means a day reserved if we face any difficulties due to unpredictable weather. Also, you must take note that you yourself are accountable for this buffer day. If the Buffer Day is used by you then there is a certain amount that will be collected by the trek leader in Kaza.
