When the name “Everest” comes up, the mind is filled with the thoughts of a majestic mountain structure which has been the challenge to the mankind over the centuries. None dared to challenge its might until the last century when the human foot fell on the top of its peak. From then on the peak has drawn number of expeditions to its height. The experience and expertise gained by the humans over the decade have been instrumental in scaling the Everest summit. Touted as one of the most difficult peaks, even the ascend to its base camp is quite the challenge.

The footfall to the Everest base camp has increased over the recent years. The EBC trek attracts the people from world over. The EBC trek packages have been designed as per the requirements of the mountaineers from world over. Nestled in the Khumbu region of Nepal, the Mt EBC trek is one of the three most popular treks in the entire region. It is a difficult trek to climb where ascends to the camp passes through complex terrain. There are two base camps to Mt Everest- The South Base camp in Nepal at an altitude of 5364m & North Base camp in China at height of 5150m. The footfall is prominent on the Nepal side due to the ease of the resources and friendly policy of the government.

Best Time: The best time to scale the summit is during the month of March to October. At this time of the year the summit provides the best conditions suitable to scale the summit.

The summit presents a demanding difficulty due to the tough landscape that one has to counter on the move. The air thinning will also pose a major challenge. Thus it is necessary to acclimatize properly to with stand the unpredictable conditions.

Detailed Itinerary


Day 1

Day 1 Arrive in Kathmandu: 

You will be travelling to Kathmandu, capital city of Nepal. Here all your formalities in relation to expedition ahead will be done. Also you will be required to change your currency to Nepal rupee.

Day 2

Day 2 Kathmandu to Phakding via Lukla: 

This is the combined journey of flight and foot from Kathmandu to Lukla and from there to Phakding by doing trekking. At Lukla, we are supposed to present first of our two permits before proceeding ahead.

Day 3

Day 3 Phakding to Namche Bazar: 

The route to Namche Bazar from Phakding is composed of path with lots of ascends and descends. The route will take you to Namche Bazar which is the administrative point of Khumbu region. We will stop at Namche Bazar for our overnight stay.

Day 4

Day 4 Namche to Tengboche: 

From Namche you will proceed to Tengboche which is a small village. This will require trekking along the way laden with stones. The route is composed of several high and low points which will be the test of the strength.

Day 5

Day 5 Tengboche to Dengboche: 

The route from Tengboche to Dingboche passes through Pangboche, a small village where you will take the tea or lunch break. For the entire route you will be doing the trekking which will help in getting adapted to the environment.

Day 6

Day 6 Acclimatization exercise:

The stay at Dingboche will help you in greater degree of acclimatization with the environment. It is important to develop adaptability as with the rising altitude you will be encountering more difficult situations.

Day 7

Day 7 Dingboche to Thukla:  

A trek of 5 km which passes through a flat trail. However since there are no facilities available on route, it is important to carry the enough supplies.

Day 8

Day 8 Thukla to Labouche:

This route is composed of the steep climb which will be a good exercise for you. After that it is a flat trail for you to your next destination

Day 9

Day 9 Labouche to Everest base camp:

There will be fair amount of trekking to be done along the route from Labouche to Everest Base Camp through Gorakshep. You need to do some amount of trekking to climb up to the base camp.

Day 10

Day 10 Gorakshep to Pheriche via Kala Patthar:

This stretches from gorakshep to Kala patthar iis a difficult trail to pass through. It will also provide the spectacular view of Mt. Everest. From here on we will proceed to Pheriche through 1300m descent.

Day 11

Day 11 Pheriche to Namche Bazar

The descent to Namche Bazar from Pheriche  iis a moderate one which gives beautiful view of the mountains and valley. 

 

Day 12

Day 12 Namche Bazar to Phakding: 

This will be the last leg of the entire expedition which will take you back to Phakding via Lukla. The journey will take the same route as was the earlier one.

Day 13

Day 13 Phakding to Kathmandu:

The expedition ends with the spirit of triumph and feeling of having achieved an experience of lifetime. You got to Kathmandu for your departure from the expedition.

Day 14 Reserve day: 

To accommodate any changes in schedule.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a level 4 adventure on the Bikat Rating Scale.

This makes it mandatory for you to have high-altitude experience of preferably multiple treks marked at level 3 on the WIMRS. The altitude, the terrain, and the nature of the climb demand a certain level of endurance and a need for you to be aware of how your body reacts to the various features of the high-altitude environment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everest Base Camp Trek is made only for experienced trekkers who want to test their limits. The challenges faced in the trek should not be underestimated. You should attempt this EBC trek only If you have already done a trek that climbs to 4700-5000 metres. It is recommended not to opt EBC trek if you cannot get acclimatized in the mountains of Nepal. Besides you need to have a strong physical endurance to complete this trek. Everest Base Camp Trek difficulty level on TWM rating scale is 5.

Should have an experience of at least 10 ? 15 trek days in the Himalayas, At least one Moderate Plus category trek, Experience of trekking at altitudes higher than 4700 - 5000 mts, Medical fitness certificate from CMO of a recognized hospital.

Jog/Run for 5 Kms in 25-30 mins Or Walk continuously for 10 kms (with 3-4 small breaks) on plain terrain (slight incline is better) and Hold your breath for 40 seconds and 3 sets of Climbing 30 ? 40 steps in one stretch and Push Ups ? 10 and Lunges & Squats ? 15 X 2 sets

The Everest Base Camp trek will take you the base camp of the highest mountain on the planet - Mount Everest. You will experience traditional Sherpa culture in the Khumbu region and get stunning views of the roof of the world and some of the world's highest peaks - Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and many more while trekking through dense forests and harsh alpine territory.

Best months to do EBC Trek are March, April, May, September, October, and November.

The base for EBC trek is Kathmandu. To get to Kathmandu from Delhi, you can take one of the following options - By Air: There are multiple flights daily connecting Delhi and Kathmandu. Return airfare will cost you between INR 10,000 - INR 15,000 By Road: The road distance between Delhi and Kathmandu is 1,152 km. A DTC service is operated on this route that will cost you around INR 5,000 for a return journey. You can also drive to Kathmandu in your own vehicle. By Rail: There are multiple trains operating daily from Delhi to Gorakhpur near the India - Nepal border. From Gorakhpur, you will have to take a bus to the Sunauli across the border. From Sunauli, you will have to take another bus to Kathmandu. Expect the return journey to cost you between INR 4,000 - INR 7,000

There is 3G connectivity for local network NCell for most of the Everest Base Camp trek.

You will be in Kathmandu at the beginning and end of this trek. There are a number of places to explore in Kathmandu - walk through the old city, explore the streets of Thamel, visit the famous Swayambhunath and Pashupatinath temples, take thangka painting workshops or learn how to cook local cuisine. You can also drive or fly to Pokhara in Central Nepal and explore the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri regions - rife with vast trekking options as well! Another must-see attraction is the Royal Palace, the site of the infamous 2001 massacre of the Royal Family by the then Crown Prince, and now converted into the Narayanhiti Palace Museum.

The minimum age limit is 13 years. However, minors aged between 13 to 17 should be accompanied by their parents or guardians. If you are above the age of 60, kindly carry a medical certificate from your doctor that deem you fit for adventure activities like trekking.

Since Everest Base Camp is not a camping trek, tents and sleeping bags are not required.

There are adequate, hygienic facilities throughout the EBC trail and at all accommodations.

Gaiters and microspikes will not be provided by us. If needed, then you can rent the same from Kathmandu or Namche Bazaar. However, these are not needed for Nepal treks.

Meals are not included during Everest base camp trek. The lodges/guest houses on this trek have ample eating options.

You can rent following items from us- Trekking Pole, Trekking Shoes, Fleece Jacket, Rucksack

Depending on the season, the temperature on Everest Base Camp trek can drop to -20?C at night and be as high as 30?C during the day time.

There may be fresh snowfall in the region depending on the weather. There will be permanent snow accumulation at higher altitudes, though not necessarily on the trail itself.

You can offload your backpack (up to 10 kg) on this trek. This portage fee is included in the trek cost.

A team of the participant will be led by a course certified trek leader and a local guide. All participants are requested to abide by the directions of the leader. There will also be a team of kitchen staff and porters on the trek. We maintain 1:8 ratio of trek leader and participants. All our trek leaders and staff have certified training in first-aid and rescue operation.

It is not mandatory but it is more convenient with the pole. If you don?t want to buy one, you can rent it from us on minimal daily basis charges. You can request the renting link from us.

You can buy your trekking necessities from Kathmandu. There may be some items available at shops in Namche Bazaar, or other villages on the trail as well.

Yes, it is absolutely safe for a solo woman to travel in fix departures. Women on the trek will be sharing a tent with each other. In case you are the only woman on the trek, you will be given a separate tent.

Yes, e-certificates will be given at the end of each trek provided that you completed it. It will bear your name, the trek, and the maximum altitude you achieved on the trek.

Water bottles are available for purchase on the trail. However, if you plan to get water from the local water sources then please carry chlorine tablets/ water purification tablets.

Indian Currency of INR 100 and below work in Nepal. However, the new INR 2000 and INR 500 notes are not accepted at all. The new notes work in the cities, but people at other places might not accept the new notes. Get your currency exchanged to Nepalese currency from Kathmandu.

You will be dropped off at the hotel/guest house in Kathmandu at the end of the trek.

Please do carry either your passport or Voter ID card, along with a few passport size photographs.
